One of Karin’s aims when writing this book was to encourage children to enjoy vegetables, as she did with her own children. As a rule, tradition or inertia has dictated how vegetables are cooked, without necessarily taking into account the best ways to cook them or to retain their natural qualities. Often over boiled and with a limited repertoire, vegetables have become an unappealing and mandatory food at family mealtimes, especially for children. The purpose of this book is to break with the cliché that vegetables are bland and boring. Using Karin’s treasured recipes beautifully illustrated by her daughter Juliet, parents and children alike can enter a wider and more appetising universe.
